Mange Tout Brighton
You’ll find Mange Tout south of Brighton Station, which is part of the same brand as one of Brighton’s top 20 restaurants, Plateau. In 2020 they achieved the Best Brunch honour at the Brighton Restaurant Awards, proof of their commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients and relaxed social vibes.
A buzz of chatter will greet you as the barista grinds beans and steams milk. The sound of upbeat jazz can be heard throughout the building, a space you’ll enjoy escaping into.
It is only a few minutes walk from Brighton station, making it a great destination when you arrive from afar. During the week, Mange Tout is open for breakfast and lunch. Their dinner menu is available Thursday through Saturday.
Mangue Tout’s laidback vibe has made it a popular venue for weekend brunch. Many Brightonians and weekenders have become accustomed to the kitchen’s Mediterranean version of the full English breakfast before hopping onto the train home.
Ambience
Their unpretentious interior is furnished with mismatched chairs and tables that are reclaimed timber pieces. Its floor is concrete with some splatters of paint and the walls are off-white with an accent of fern green. A delightful, sprawling wine store stands behind the bar. I can tell by perusing the menu that the store is certainly not just a showpiece. On my way here for brunch, I scan the blackboard affixed to the wall and wish I could just hang around until dinner as well.
Perfect Dining Venue
The food is simple, real cooking, with real sustainable ingredients. There’s such an incredible array of tartines, salads, sandwiches & platters to choose from, along with steak fries & beef bourguignon that it can be difficult to choose. If it all gets too much, the cheery young French staff are more than happy to advise.
During breakfast, you can choose from artisan croissants paired with coffee, freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit kefir, and exotic juice blends.
Sweet and savoury options are available in the brunch menu with the savoury side containing the classic egg dishes; Florentine, Benedict and Royale, as well as the full English, Complet Mange Tout. Halloumi is also available as a vegetarian option.
The food arrives in a flash after my order is taken. At first, it appears small, but as I get closer, I discover the mushrooms hidden underneath the subtly smoked meat and Toulouse sausage. Served beside, a slice of sourdough with spinach smells as if it’s fresh-picked right from the garden. The tomato compote complements it well, adding an interesting touch.
Mange Tout is on top of its game, great food made from Sussex sourced produce that just melts in your mouth. On the menu, everything looks good.
