Riddle and Finns

I’ve been going to Riddle and Finns Brighton’s Lanes for as long as I can remember. You’ll find it on Meeting House Lane, a discreet side street off of North Street in the middle of town.

Riddle and Finns Brighton’s Lanes is a restaurant that will take you back in time with its beautiful decor, elegant atmosphere, and delicious food.

This restaurant is unlike anything in the area. It’s super cool to watch chefs make your food right there without any walls or windows! Plus, you can hear all their conversations and instructions as they prepare orders for each table – it makes me want to become a chef too!

The Atmosphere

Riddle & Finns on the beach is a laid-back, family-friendly restaurant with plenty of entertainment for kids in the back room.
Parents can enjoy themselves in front of the window-front tables by looking out at beautiful views from this restaurant.

The staff were all so friendly, and customer service was out of this world.

The Seafood Menu

The seafood here is the stuff of legends. You’ve got classics like oysters, whole crabs and fish pie; or you could go for more exotic catches from their daily menu.

You can pick up the freshest fish and get recipes to cook it at this Brighton seafood restaurant. And by fresh, I mean they have a traditional wet fish counter that you can take home!

Delish Food

I couldn’t help but order the Rossmore Rock oysters, as I love everything with a champagne sauce. The raw ones tasted just like summer at the beach and reminded me of all those carefree summers when life was easy – you know? They were so fresh that they didn’t need anything else to make them taste good!

The gratinée which I always adore got me excited because my mouth watered immediately when those melted cheese bubbles popped up around its edges from being baked atop bread crumbs or something crunchy…I can’t quite remember now!

Our kids were thrilled with the variety of choices on their menu, but they had a hard time choosing. In the end, both our little ones chose fish goujons which are fried to perfection and served up alongside fries! Needless to say, it didn’t last long before all that delicious food was gone!

We ordered the smoked haddock with colcannon, a poached egg, prosciutto and champagne sauce. This is one of the favourites that we always order when we come to this restaurant!

We also ordered the pan-roasted cod with a swede mash. It’s been a while since I’ve had it here but every time I do have it-it never disappoints!

Pinocchio

Pinocchio

A true Italian family-run establishment, the Pinocchio Brighton restaurant boasts a lively atmosphere and mouthwatering food.
Enjoy their fresh plates of pasta, tempting pizzas or succulent meat dishes cooked to perfection under expert guidance from the owners themselves!
You can’t go wrong with any of these delicacies paired up with one of their many wines on offer for your enjoyment.

Atmosphere

Among the many changes and additions made to the restaurant, there is a new layout that I enjoy.
The kitchen was updated with an amazing skylight that makes you feel good on the inside, perfect for working with a wide range of foods.
It is a place with a great vibe, one that is perfect for cooler days when it is too cold to sit outside and enjoy Brighton!

Traditional Italian Menu

Pinocchio has been serving up its Italian dishes for over 40 years. You’ll find fresh and quality ingredients prepared each day in their kitchen, the heart of Pinocchio’s roots.
And they keep it traditional with simple pasta dishes served alongside pizzas that are both superbly priced and delicious!

It’s been a while since we’ve had the time to just relax and enjoy lunch, but Pinocchio’s was perfect for that.
We sat outside in their sunny patio area where they have tables with umbrellas if you want shade from the sun or can’t tolerate it at all.
Then, we ordered one of those three-course deals which is such an awesome deal considering how good everything is!

We all enjoyed the garlic and herb mushroom starter, which was large. I had a thin crust tuna and olive pizza that tasted delicious.

Something sweet

We ordered dessert to share among our group of four people, they were thoroughly enjoyable!
The tiramisu is by far my favourite out of any restaurant’s because its rich chocolate taste combined with fresh whipped cream makes for one divine dish-especially topped off with some pistachio nuts…
I love how you can truly savour every last morsel as your teeth sink into this heavenly concoction!

We had a great time and I’ll be sure to come back again.

Purezza

0

Purezza

Looking for a clean, plant-based place to have pizza? Head on over to Purezza in Brighton. Their pizzas are made from only fresh vegetables and natural ingredients that will satisfy your taste buds with their unique flavour combinations. This is your chance to enjoy all of those amazing toppings without any guilty feelings!

Plant-based pizzeria Purezza has been winning awards left and right in the last few years. In 2015, they opened their first restaurant on St James’ Street with only vegan options for pizza toppings like nut cheese, greens pesto, baby spinach leaves or tomato purée sauce. But don’t think that just because it’s plant-based makes it any less delicious! The dough is made from organic Spelt flour which creates a chewy texture as well as having loads of fibre to keep you full all day long. By 2020 they had expanded three times – once opening up Camden followed by Hove too!

Plant-based Pizza Menu

Purezza is run by Italian owners, so when it comes to selecting the best ingredients to make delicious treats like vegan cheese, they won’t settle for anything less. Moreover, they have raw nut cheese as well as coconut cheese, giving you the chance to experiment with different flavours at a reasonable price.

Who doesn’t love a good base? The one here at Purezza is just that – perfect. I went for their traditional wholegrain sourdough flour and it was light, fluffy, and super satisfying. You could also get your pizza with Sussex-grown hemp or gluten-free bases if you’re feeling adventurous but in my opinion, there’s nothing better than tradition! And when this hot crust meets cool tomato sauce…mmm…

While there are a few instantly recognizable pizzas, namely the Margherita and Marinara, a pleasant variety of other options are available as well. Choose from a good assortment of white sauce bases, as well as red ones, but half of them can be adapted to be made with a slice of alternative meat if you want to!

It is worth mentioning that I finally choose the Green Supreme as my final choice. It is just a reinvention of a classic friarielli – a broccoli/spinach hybrid – which is paired with spicy sausage, but without the sausage itself. Since it was vegan, the sausage was something of alternative meat to me. The quality of the mozzarella made it a dish to enjoy along with the bagfuls of spice from chillies.

Guilty Pleasure

Pizza is all about balance, and that includes desserts. Why not have a slice of vegan chocolate pizza or cashew nut cheesecake?

Pizza might be your favourite food in the world (we won’t judge) but don’t forget to savour some sinful dessert! Purezza also offers vegan lemon cheesecake, tiramisu, and gelato.

To drink, there is an amazing selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The joys of being in a vegan restaurant are that you don’t even need to ask if the food or drinks have animal products! There is also great fresh cold-pressed juices and soft drinks available for those who prefer them.

Fatto a Mano

Fatto a Mano Brighton

Ambience

The best pizza in East Sussex is at a small joint that you might walk by without noticing. Once inside, the giant blue and white mosaic oven will be hard to miss; it’s quite beautiful! The menu consists of both red sauce pizzas as well as those made with no tomato sauce- there are plenty of toppings available for each kind on top (the combinations seem endless!). You’ll want to get your hands on one soon so start heading down south if you’re craving this amazing dish.

When seeking the perfect pizza experience in East Sussex, look no further than Fatto a Mano. The restaurant offers not only tasty and unique pizzas but also an artfully designed interior with bright colours that make it seem like you’re eating on vacation!

This place seems like a fun spot. You can see how the evening hours are more lively and buzzing with activity when you throw in some live music or comedy acts to go along to, so it’s worth booking ahead of time!

Fatto a Mano Menu

They serve simple, basic Italian starters and sides, including Caprese salad, olives, bruschetta, and ‘Campania Fries’, or for the meat lovers ‘Affettato Misto’ (a collection of cured meats). They have also got dozens of wood-fired pizzas including our favourites pizza Norma and a variety of salads that will satisfy anyone.

We had a traditional Margherita pie and it was delicious! The sauce was well seasoned, had a perfect quantity of cheese, and was super flavorful. I love that they use wood-fired ovens to cook the crust which gives it such an amazing flavour too with just enough char from the fire.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Diavola pizza. The spicy salami had a nice taste to it, and I liked that they included mozzarella cheese as well!

Fatto A Mano has my favorite dessert, the Scugnizzielli Nutella. It’s fried pizza doughnut strips served with vanilla gelato that I love!

Soft and pillowy, rather than thin and crispy or a pizza pie.

If you are in the mood for pizza, look no further than Fatto A Mano! With a great atmosphere and friendly staff to provide top-notch service paired with fresh ingredients at reasonable prices; it is evident why this restaurant has been so successful.

The best part? You can get your favourite pie without having to put up with all of those terrible pizzerias that have come out recently- where everything tastes like bad catering cheese or dough. I highly recommend everyone trying this place out because now Brighton suddenly offers an authentic Italian experience unlike any other establishment around town!

Morelli Zorelli

0

Morelli Zorelli

If you are feeling famished after taking in the sights of The Old Market, then look no farther than Morelli Zorelli. Using artisan and genuine Italian ingredients like prosciutto di parma, mozzarella bianca DOP buffalo milk cheese from Campania region of Italy to produce a pizza that will satisfy any taste buds.

The Morelli Zorelli pizzeria is quickly making its mark as one of Brighton’s best spots for lunchtime or dinner time bites!

Authentic Italian Pizza

Morelli Zorelli prides themselves on their time-tested and perfected authentic sourdough pizzas. The flavours are unique because they use the best ingredients from Italy to make it happen!

The tomato sauce tastes so fresh, not like canned or store-bought sauces which have a more sour flavour. The mozzarella is creamy and has the perfect amount of salt to make it artfully delicious.

You can choose to chill out upstairs and watch them make your pizza from scratch, enjoying the theatre of a wood stone oven. Or if you prefer more privacy downstairs in their cosy atmospheric restaurant is available too where they serve pizzas made with love by experienced chefs who have been making delicious pies for years!

Other Delish Offerings

The Morelli Zorelli offers a menu of delicious Italian cuisine, and it’s easy to see why they have become so popular! The garlic cheese bread is just one item you’ll want to try from their appetizer selection. They also offer gluten-free pizzas for those who are more cautious about what they eat.

Their dessert selections will make your mouth water: gelato in many flavours, Nutella pizza (yes!), brownies with or without nuts – the possibilities are endless at this place that has great coffee too!

You’ll be hard-pressed to forget the great wine, beer and margaritas that you can try too.

This pizzeria is a hidden gem, tucked away in the mixed-up streets of downtown. The amenities are homey and welcoming with an easygoing atmosphere to match. You can just feel yourself unwinding as you enter this spot!

The intimate ambience of this restaurant allows guests to relax after a hard day at work while energetic staff works tirelessly on their behalf, staying positive throughout – making it one great place for dining out! Woodbox Pizza

Woodbox Pizza

When I first moved to Brighton, the only pizza available was from Pizza Hut or Dominos. But now, there are a lot of options that I could just spend my entire life sampling all the different varieties! It’s so hard to choose which one is best.

We went to Naples and liked the pizza there…a lot. So, we learn’t how to make a lot of the pizza that we liked a lot so that you lot could like it a lot too.

I’m looking forward to Woodbox. It’s in Kemptown, and it’s nice; the design and decor are perfect for me; white background with lots of blue accents. I love how much attention they put into everything from plates to cutlery-makes it worth going there!

The menu should be enough because there are about six pizzas-and just some starters too if you’re hungry or want something light on your stomach before lunchtime kicks off. This place can’t disappoint!

Woodbox Pizzeria Brighton is a jewel secreted away in Kemptown. Don’t miss out on this local gem!

Authentic Pizza

Woodbox Pizza Brighton is an unassuming pizzeria that you would never guess was anything other than your average pizza joint. The team there make authentic Neapolitan pizzas with fresh quality ingredients, and they always ensure the end product meets high standards before serving it up to their customers.  That’s why every customer here will be served a great tasting slice of heaven in less time than expected!

In addition to gluten, dairy, meat, and light options, they also have vegan, vegetarian, and vegetarian options available on their menu!

Atmosphere

I love the earthy feel of this restaurant. In the woodfired oven, the pizza cooks at extremely high temperatures to seal in flavour and deliver the perfect bit of char, which is a necessary element of any good pizza.

The Woodbox team is committed to providing quality food and drinks, with local suppliers. Their pizza is paired with the best wines from Butler’s Wine Cellar in Brighton.

Woodbox is a restaurant where you can kick back and enjoy your food. They offer wonderful service, great prices for delicious meals, yummy desserts and many other tempting dishes to tempt any appetite.

It’s always nice when customers feel well taken care of at this establishment- their staff will go out of their way to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable experience here!

Las Iguanas

0

Las Iguanas

I was so excited to check out the new updates at Las Iguanas Brighton since it’s been ages since I’ve had a visit, and boy am I glad that they were celebrating their anniversary festivities because who doesn’t love some tasty cocktails.

Las Iguanas Brighton is a chic restaurant offering fresh and authentic Latin American food with some of the best cocktails around.
They have dishes from all over South America, each one made to highlight the unique flavour blends found in those regions. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

At the Las Iguanas venue, you can take a break from your workday and enjoy some cocktails. You’ll find plenty of happy hour time with discounted drinks all day every day at this buzzing bar!

There’s also salsa music playing in the background for that authentic Latin American vibe. The bartenders here are experts when it comes to serving cachaça – the national drink of Brazil!–as well as Caipirinhas which feature Cachaça liquor distilled from sugar cane juice or molasses syrup using traditional methods (or sometimes both).

Amazing Mexican Dishes

The first thing we do is order some tapas dishes as an appetizer. Initially, we chose Championes, the Las Iguanas classic.
This deliciously smoky dish includes thick-sliced mushrooms in a creamy smoked chilli sauce served with warmed soft, wheat tortillas.
Among our other choices were Smoked Haddock Croquettas – crispy, panko-coated croquettes that come with potato salsa and cheese, too – they are like fish cakes just much better!

For the main course, we order the Bahian Coconut Chicken, cumin and coriander are fried in a creamy coconut sauce with ginger, garlic, tomatoes.
Served over rice that is always perfectly cooked- not too soft or hard. The ingredients all look colourful on its plate which I like because it looks appetizing to me!

We also ordered the Sea Bass, which came on a bed of spring onion rice. It was cooked in a sauce of tomato, coriander, basil, parsley, achiote and red pepper.
It has just enough spice to compliment the dish without overpowering it completely; this creates an amazing balance that makes each bite worth savouring!

Loads of Choices

There’s something here for everyone, and the restaurant has gluten-free options as well. The kids’ menu offers organic baby food just in case you’re running low!
Las Iguanas is a great place to serve up some amazing Latin American dishes while catching up with friends or family members over lunch or dinner – it’s an excellent choice if your taste buds are craving anything from fiery fajitas to classic Brazilian fare served traditionally inside of pots.

If you’re looking for a good time then Las Iguanas is the perfect place to go! There are great drinks, food and music. It’s in the middle of everything too-great if you’re not sure where else to head off into town.

Wahaca

Wahaca Brighton

The Wahaca Brighton restaurant is a great place to celebrate with friends or family. The menu has delicious food and cocktails that all taste amazing. It’s the perfect spot for date night, too!

I love this place! It’s so lively and fun here, with a mix of bright colours. There are graphics everywhere and there is even art on the walls from Mexican artist Mazatl.
I like that they support creatives in each location by having their own local artists join them to make these spaces all unique – it shows how much care went into creating such an awesome space for people who want to have some good times while dining or just hanging out after work!

The Menu

The menu at Wahaca Brighton is a mix of all the usual Mexican food, including burritos, tostadas and quesadillas. They also have guacamole on tap as well as churros!
The most delicious thing I tried was their Pasilla chicken tacos that had good smoke from the chargrill and pleasantly spicy habanero salsa with a soft tortilla topped off by crunchy radish slices or salad leaves for some extra texture.

I could have eaten all day long. The steak in the tacos was beautifully tender and I loved how simple it tasted with just a hint of spice. Plus, you can’t beat some good Mexican food!
Empanadas are my favourite dish and these looked like a work of art! They had an earthy mushroom and sweetcorn filling with crispy pastry.

And, there’s no denying the deliciousness of churros. They’re light and crisp, dipped in chocolate and caramel sauce…you can’t go wrong with these!

Sustainable Ingredients

When it comes to delicious food, Wahaca strives for the best of both worlds. They provide dishes with fresh and sustainable ingredients!
The commitment to sustainability is also very important: for seafood, the highest accreditation of sustainability is put in place and all meat comes from British producers with high welfare standards.

If you’re looking for a taste that’s truly one-of-a-kind then this is your place. Not only does their warm staff welcome each customer but also offers recommendations on what dish would be perfect based on your needs or preferences!

Drinks!

The drinks are great! The large bar area is perfect for those who drop in to drink, nibble on snacks and play foosball.
I had a really good Margarita made with hibiscus tea which was refreshingly pretty as well as my gin and tonic from the long list of cocktails they offer here.
They have fresh pressed juices too – Mexican beer, excellent tequila choices.
All their 100% blue agave tequilas taste incredible but you HAVE TO get your hands on some Mezcal since it’s so smooth yet smoky tasting.

MEXICAN FLAVOUR MEETS THE BUZZ OF BRIGHTON

We had a great time at Wahaca! The drinks were strong, the food is amazing and the atmosphere was buzzing – we couldn’t have asked for more.
I think it might be my favourite Mexican place in Brighton, especially because of how authentic they are.

Carlito Burrito

0

Carlito Burrito

Carlito Burrito is the perfect place for a fantastic meal in an eclectic setting. They have Mexican cuisine that combines culinary traditions from all over Mexico!
You can get burritos for lunchtime right now or authentic street food to share with friends while enjoying the lively atmosphere inside.

“My love for food started at a very young age thanks to my mum. She was a terrible cook! Therefor we ate out quite a lot”

The staff are very laid-back so take your time getting comfy on one of their colourful seats while browsing through what they offer – there is no end of stimulation here because everything begins as soon as you walk in the door!
They’re also open late so you can get your fix even when it’s past dinner time.

Good for Sharing

Carlito Burrito is a fantastic place to find burritos, but that’s not all they have. If you are happy to spend some extra time and money, the Mexican street food dishes for sharing are an excellent way to get more of this amazing cuisine.
You can choose from tacos with steak or octopus; fish tacos; quesadillas and halloumi, plus there’s ceviche too! The Mexican brownie and the churros are some of my favourite things on the menu here. Be sure to leave room for dessert because you won’t regret it!

Mexican Cocktails

I bet you can’t resist the perfect cocktails and mezcal at Carlito Burrito. It’s hard to turn down a good margarita, right?
And don’t forget about those delicious Mexican beers! They offer an excellent variety of tequilas too – why not try some coffee or lemonade when you’re there?

Kids’ Menu

The kids’ menu is great, it’s perfect for the little ones. We had both of the items on there – cheese quesadillas with pico de gallo and guacamole, as well as batter fish goujons with sweet potato chips.
The quesadillas were fantastic! They’re a nice introduction to Mexican food that is easy to eat while also being delicious.

They enjoyed the salsa with fresh tomatoes and guacamole. It was delicious and seasoned just how we like it. The kids also have fish, there were no leftovers. Not even a crumb!
The food is beautifully cooked- tender with minimal battering to keep them light in texture but still crisp from outside – which goes well with their choice of sweet potato chips for sides that were thin yet crunchy enough when dipped into tasty dips like my daughter’s favourite: avocado or her dad’s preference: spicy mayonnaise sauce.

Our family trip to Carlito Burrito was a real treat. The food is fresh and the atmosphere lively, but what stands out above all else are the staff who were so attentive and friendly, they made our dining experience special!

I would definitely recommend this hidden gem for lunch with kids; they’ll love it as much as we did!

From The Menu

Indian Summer is all about bringing the flavours of India to your plate.
You’ll be able to taste delicious onion aubergine pakora, which is similar in flavour and texture to an Indian-style onion bhaji but with a twist.
This dish has been inspired by local ingredients from across different regions of India– so you’re tasting authentic recipes that are tried and true for generations!
After these tasty starters, we have something even more special: Masala Dosa – a large, golden rice & lentil pancake stuffed with vegetables served alongside sambhar and coconut chutney.
This will remind many people of home because it’s such an iconic element on any street corner around Mumbai or Delhi.

The Tandoori Platter is a sizzling carnivorous dish that we order with the expected mix of vegetables for all, and it comes complete with mango chutney, mint raita as well as baby spinach & red onion.

Indian Summer is a new wave of delicious dishes coming straight from the subcontinent.
It’s been recognised by many people as one of the best places to eat in Brighton and has received awards for Best Indian Restaurant on South Coast, 2015.

When I first heard about Minesh Agnihotri’s vision to bring a new taste of Indian cuisine, it seemed like an impossible task.
Luckily, he proved me wrong with his restaurant that has been successful in changing the way we see curry altogether.
