Bardsley’s

Bardsley’s

Bardsley’s fish and chip shop runs close to the rapidly developing London Road area and borders the large green area of The Level.

Typical fish and chips in a hybrid style; traditional chips, crunchy batter, and enormous pickled gherkins, complemented by an elegant restaurant featuring whole fish grilled to perfection, garnished and accompanied by salad or chips.

Well established

Baker Street’s famous cod and mushy peas spot has been in business since 1926 and has built an excellent reputation that has resulted in one of the best batters in town. Within walking distance of the station, you can choose to eat on-site, but for the ultimate seaside experience, grab fish and chips on the go and set up a bench as your little dining table.

This is a long-established Brighton institution, serving residents and visitors who dip in and out of the city on holidays or study for a few years.

A foodie’s dream

This family-run business has been serving fish and chips for more than four generations and takes pride in offering only the best.

The specials are constantly changing, depending on what fresh fish comes in, and the dishes are prepared in whichever way complements it.

You can choose from a wide selection of fish available for battering, poaching, or grilling. The choice is yours! You can also choose from four different portion sizes, including a double serving!

For my meal, I ordered the medium-sized haddock fillet grilled then paired with chips, and my friend ordered the battered cod paired with salad rather than chips since she overindulged in chips in recent weeks!

Garlic and black pepper were used to prepare the haddock, which was accompanied by a cup of salad, and the chips were served separately. Having garlic and pepper with the fish made it incredibly tasty and flaky. I was impressed by how well it was cooked and how fresh the fish was, especially since it wasn’t fried! With a delightful potato flavour and a slightly crisp outer surface, the chips were great.

My friend’s cod was enormous and coated in a crunchy, thin, non-greasy batter that was even and perfect all the way around. It must have been made by experts. Perfectly cooked, the inside of the fish was flaky. A simple salad that came with apple vinaigrette was a welcome change from chips.

There’s a reason why Bardsley’s is so well-known not just in Brighton, but around the country.

It’s a good place to go if you’re looking for quality, proper, satisfying fish and chips.
After that, we had sticky toffee pudding, as you have to eat it when you have the chance. The pudding was served with lots of custard. I’m thankful for Bardsley’s!

As they are licensed, they offer a variety of beer options, including gluten-free options that I found to be a welcome sight!

Bankers Traditional Fish & Chip Restaurant

0

Bankers Traditional Fish & Chip Restaurant

Bankers Brighton serves up some of the finest fish and chips in our seaside town and is considered a traditional fish and chip establishment.

Their history started in the 1920s when they launched a fish and chips in Romford, London, and over time they expanded into other areas, which now includes Bankers in central Brighton and Hove.

A branch of this chain is located on Western Road, on the opposite side of Norfolk Square, and offers both takeout and eat-in options for fish and chips.

The perfect spot

Bankers is the perfect place to grab a quick meal before heading to the beach.

When winter arrives and the weather isn’t beach appropriate, it’s better to go for a traditional style restaurant than the fast-food option. Being particularly well-designed, the flagship store in Brighton features rich wood finishes and expansive windows that allow for plenty of natural light.

The main course items are 15 fish dishes, served paired together with chips (which can also be substituted for salad or jacket potatoes). The batter at Bankers Brighton has not changed from the original recipe, it is looked up to, but not surpassed.

The restaurant is family-owned and family-focused. The kids’ menu is served with smaller portions, ice cream and soft drinks are available. On Mondays through Thursdays, senior citizens receive a discount. Everyone loves fish and chips!

Sustainability

Bankers Brighton maintains a strong commitment to sustainability, an aspect that most fast food businesses ignore when trying to minimize costs.

Fish sources for Bankers come from sustainable fisheries in Iceland, where discarded fish is strictly forbidden, and quotas are tightly controlled to ensure that the ocean can grow.

The Bankers strong sustainability policy is further enhanced by the use of only biodegradable or recycled packaging. Aside from their ethical recognition, they also produce good quality and good value fish and chips!

Our Bankers experience

With a fish platter, we were able to sample a variety of starters.

Served out in a large oval plate right away, it included golden crispy calamari rings, delicious cod goujons, breaded scampi bites, as well as crispy cockles.

Two nice lemon wedges, along with a delicious lemon-dill sauce, were served on the side. We tucked into more than enough to start the day off right.

As far as main courses are concerned, the menu featured Haddock, Cod, Plaice, Fish Cakes, Battered Sausages and Scampi.

There is also the option of cooking the fish in breadcrumbs or grilling it, which is good for those who don’t enjoy battered fish. To those who prefer pies over fish at the fish & chip shop, you can pick up the house special, a fish pie, to eat in.

Though all the main courses on the menu looked tempting, the fish special on a menu board by the kitchen piqued my interest. Servéed with a huge plate of salad and chips, this sea bream was baked, stuffed with lemon and chopped parsley. There was no doubt about the freshness of this fish–it was firm and flaky with radiant white flesh.

In terms of chips, we had two options: big chunks of white potatoes and very thin sweet potatoes. If you are looking for a lighter lunch and you need a vitamin C boost, go for the latter! I liked the white chunky chips best because their inside was fluffy, while the outside was crisp. Despite being slightly softer, the sweet potatoes tasted delicious because they had a sweet, creamy flavour. In addition, those potatoes are all grown on British farms with which Bankers has maintained a close working relationship for decades.

This restaurant’s traditional fish and chips are nothing to complain about, but the specials are the real draw.

There may not be any awards for its wine list or decor, but it’s a great chippy regardless of whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout, and anything that supports British farmers gets my vote.

The Mock Turtle Tea Shop

0

The Mock Turtle Tea Shop

There is a deep-seated tradition of drinking tea in British society. Everything’s better with tea.

As well as being Brighton’s oldest tearoom, the Mock Turtle is also Brighton’s tiniest tearoom. There is a quaint little tearoom just a short walk from the old coach stop near Pool Valley in Brighton.

Using traditional recipes creates an assortment of fresh cakes and sandwiches. Decorated with Victorian elements, you will feel like you have stepped back in time. Tables made of wood, blue willow china, and the best cream teas in town. A Sussex institution, it’s a tea house you should try.

The Ambiance

It hasn’t changed very much over time, even according to the old customers. It sits peacefully among the glam, shabby chic, and bohemian vibe of this seaside city. Amazing that all these cakes are made in such a small building.

You can enjoy a warm and comfortable afternoon tea experience at their establishment. Their famous mega doughnuts, along with their home-baked cakes and sweets, like strawberry meringues, are also popular. Also, don’t forget to get your fill of tasty lemon pies, fluffy cakes, and fruity scones.

The coffee at this place is delicious and they also sell fruit teas or Americanos. Their tea selection is also amazing, and they have their tea blend as well.

They serve all their meals on blue willow china.

Also available are cream teas with whipped cream, or you can order homemade tea cakes. They got sandwiches and tomato soup for savoury options. You will also find many old favourites, including anchovies on toast and marmite on toast.

Our Tea Experience

My friend treated me to a lovely day out last week. We decided to stroll along the seafront and the Pier, and went to ‘the Mock Turtle’.

The cream tea we had was wonderful! Their own homemade loose-leaf tea blend was served to accompany the scones on blue willow china.

Despite its old status, the tea tastes good, and the cakes are comforting.

Having a relaxing atmosphere like this is perfect after a long, hard day’s work. There is a lot of character and style to this restaurant. I look forward to returning to try more of their tasty treats soon!

That Little Teashop in the Lanes

That Little Teashop in the Lanes

The quaint little tea shop in North Laine can provide you with a nostalgic experience with its collection of handmade cakes, served on vintage tableware, and a welcome escape from the stress of modern life.

The Atmosphere

There’s nothing more fitting for visitors to Brighton than That Little Teashop In The Lanes, which can be found in The Lanes on their way to sightseeing. It’s a great place to stop for a quick break in a charming part of Brighton.

It’s a tiny shop with a lot of character. Almost everything is vintage-style, and the servers even wear old maid outfits. The china saucers and classic tablecloths add to the vintage-style feel. While visiting Brighton, we stopped by here and thought it was excellent.

Afternoon Tea

The scones and cake especially were delicious! It was large enough for me and my friend to share a tea for two.

Tea, coffee, and pastries are available, and visitors are encouraged to sit and have a cup. Do not miss the cakes and pastries, which are freshly baked and very reasonably priced.
There’s nothing better than stopping by to replenish yourself with some tasty baked goods and some Earl Grey tea.

With its vintage china, the tea room serves a delightful cream tea that is accompanied by fresh clotted cream and jam, as well as a cheese and chive option that includes homemade onion jam and cream cheese. Offering a variety of milkshakes and cold beverages, the café also has indoor and outdoor seating.

The counter is lined with a display of cakes, miniature muffins, and pastries. As soon as you walk up to the display, there is no way you can ignore them.
Adding the kindness of the staff, what more can we expect? A great place to relax along with delicious tea and homemade pastries every day. On busy days, a table might be hard to come by, but it’s worth stopping.

Talk of Tea

0

Talk of Tea

The products served at Talk Of Tea ought to be top-notch, and in this establishment, they certainly are.

Located in the centre of Brighton, it is an inviting tea room that is perfect to spend a relaxing afternoon. Even though it has the largest tea menu in the city and some truly incredible options, this is a place that you can go to regularly. It is a good fit for Brighton.

You’ll find an intimate little shop right in town, off Western Road, adorned with small trinkets, lamps, and a cosy, charming interior. Additionally, there is a small yard that has a couple of seating areas available for use during sunny days.

Teas of all kinds

Some of the teas available on the menu include organic Darjeeling, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls, and Temi Tea. You can choose from a superb selection of green teas as well as flavoured teas, including a few rather unusual blends. How about Limoncello and Witch Blend?

The Milky Oolong is a unique tea that is unlike anything else I have had. A creamy and refreshing drink with a distinct milky taste. It’s too good to resist!

The best food around

While there is a large tea menu available, the food is more modest. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite for a couple of pounds or a full afternoon tea with scones, sandwiches, tea and cake, the restaurant has it all.

Cake gets a lot of praise! All are made in-house and are gluten-free, although you would never guess that. Despite the massive slices of cake, they were incredibly light. These weren’t at all overly sweet and dense like some gluten-free options. The restaurant doesn’t cater to vegans, but they can prepare a special dish for you if you call ahead.

Tea time can be a pleasant experience without breaking the bank.

Worth the trip

Due to its proximity to a town, it is a handy place to go for a pit stop and a quick bite or a tea date with your girlfriends. A place to unwind with books, magazines, and games, if you have the time. Here, there are so many friendly people.

In light of the proliferation of eating establishments like Starbucks and chains of restaurants in Brighton, it is more important than ever to show our support for our independent businesses, as they are what contribute to the city’s charm.

Siam Siam Brighton

Siam Siam Brighton

If you ever come across the Siam Siam Thai Restaurant, make sure you put it on your “to visit” list. This small family-owned restaurant is located in Brighton, specializes in serving Thai cuisine and offers appetizing dishes.

They believe that their dishes can bring the best quality and true taste of Thai cuisine to customers from all around England who love this type of food as well.
The restaurant offers magnificent Thai cuisine presented by skilled chefs using only top ingredients sourced locally or imported straight from Thailand; so you know it’s worth stopping for!

What’s on the menu?

They offer some authentic dishes which are unique on the regular menu just like Pad See Ew (stir-fried noodles) with your choice among meat options such as chicken, beef or pork alongside vegetables including broccoli and baby corn topped off with delicious soy sauce flavoured brown gravy served over rice cooked perfectly al dente – Mmmmm…

Do you know what is the best? Siam Siam’s awesome fish curry bowl, but also don’t forget about their mouth-watering jungle curry and Thai beef!

From their authentic dishes that are unique from the regular menu, mango shrimp to fresh sushi rolls, it can be hard deciding what dish is your favourite. Siam Siam also offers some great vegetarian options such as the tea leaf salad with stir-fried cashew nuts which will please even those who don’t eat meat.

If your appetite is more for desserts than entrees, I recommend trying some mango dessert or good sticky rice with fresh-cut fruit when visiting this place – it’s both tasty and aesthetically pleasing. When looking for drinks while dining out consider ordering wine (or maybe beer). However, be sure to order some Thai iced tea or coffee if thirsty after dinner instead because they are just fantastic here too!

Amazing venue

The restaurant offers both indoor seating or outdoor patio dining perfect for enjoying these delectable treats with friends – indoors options offer more space but less ambience while outside provides just enough warmth during this cold weather (or if it’s too hot!).

When you walk into this cosy local spot you feel like part of their big Thai – loving family! The atmosphere of the dining area makes you feel like an honoured guest, rather than just another customer on their list!
The dining area is clean with a good decoration of traditional Thai style wall painting and wooden furniture. If you have time to spare, stop by there for lunch or dinner as one visit will surely be unforgettable for you!

If you’re in the mood for a high-quality meal, but don’t want to spend an arm and leg on your average restaurant then look no further than this spot. The staff is excellent here and will help you find something that fits all of your cravings with their delicious dishes.
It’s hard to go wrong with a restaurant that has great food and an amazing staff.

Dos Sombreros

Dos Sombreros

You can find Dos Sombreros Restaurante Mexicano in Brighton’s South Lanes.
A must-go Mexican restaurant in Brighton!

There is a range of classic Mexican food on the menu as well as a lot of world cuisine, which includes Jamaican Jerk Chicken. A few of the fantastic dishes included in the menu are the Tequila Firecracker Prawns and Peruvian Bean Stew. In this restaurant, however, their fajitas with onion, pepper, and homemade salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese are the star. They are served on sizzling platters with soft flour tortillas for wrapping up all the goodness.

Let’s get started!

They also have an amazing ‘Day of the Dead’ decorated cocktail lounge upstairs, where you can enjoy frozen cocktails and take advantage of the happy hour from Sunday through Thursday. A cocktail or bottle of South American wine can be enjoyed while Mariachi music is played.

They provide a private area ideal for birthdays, stag and hen parties and get-togethers.

Vegan options

The vegan menu at Dos Sombreros is also available. It deserves a perfect score!

A perfect mix of vegan and non-vegan dishes in an inviting atmosphere- what better place to dine!

A vegan menu includes enchilada topped with mole, as well as salads, appetizers, and fajitas.

They have the best veggie enchiladas! I loved them!

What makes Dos Sombreros so great!

It’s so much fun to go to Dos Sombreros for dinner with friends! You will surely be impressed at first bite when you taste the delicious Mexican food, steak fajitas, plus the chilli con Carne at this restaurant.

Nachos on a plate for one is excellent. There is more than enough for one to share. Besides the regular margaritas, the flavoured ones are also great! Our evening was always rounded off with great tequila.

Enjoy the finest brownies, churros, and puddings at Dos Sombreros. Drinks like chocolate frappes, ice teas, and juices can all be found here.

This place has a relaxing atmosphere that allows customers to unwind and enjoy their stay. In keeping with this spot’s personality and style, the staff is attentive and patient. Excellent service is something we all appreciate!

The food was excellent, and we’ll definitely go back again!

Ed’s Easy Diner

0

Ed’s Easy Diner

Ed’s is a retro-American diner that has all the elements of an authentic classic US restaurant. This place captures everything from its name, to décor and menu items with style.
It manages to evoke images in your head right as you walk through the door! A time when America was optimistic and happy; it’s no surprise then how this mood can be seen on Ed’s walls too!

This restaurant captures the spirit of 50s US diners with its classic American food and furnishings.

American Menu

The menu features all your favourites, like Chili or burgers plus more creative selections such as their chicken and veggie burgers served on freshly baked buns!

There are also great value prices for everything you get: from breakfast to dinner they’ve got it covered. Don’t forget to try Ed’s famous Milkshakes made fresh in flavours like mud pie, vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter (YUM!)

There’s only one thing to do when you visit the Ed’s Easy Diner: dig into one of their juicy burgers or hotdogs. The sumptuous beef burger was served with fries and onion rings on top with enough for two people to share- or three if you like!

Our favourite was the fried chicken patty that had been perfectly cooked in a well-done style yet still moist inside; just what you would expect from such an iconic diner.

The kids’ menu is as fun and creative as the adults, featuring three hot dogs with fries. Kids can also enjoy a shake or soft drink while waiting for their meal at this diner!

Those with dietary restrictions will also appreciate the gluten-free menu on offer. The menu has all sorts of dishes without gluten and it’s so great when you can find places like this!

The nostalgic and relaxed feeling

The atmosphere at this place makes us feel nostalgic while enjoying quality time together over some delicious dishes without breaking the bank? What could be better than that?

Customers can enjoy great food while sitting in booths, tables, or stools and listening to their favourite songs from the 1950s.
The kitchen staff prepares dishes right before guests’ eyes so they know exactly what’s going into every bite!

Time for a Dessert

Dessert lovers with a sweet tooth – this place is for you! They have an extensive selection of desserts from waffles, to pancakes and even chocolate brownies. We ordered the classic combination of waffles and ice cream (which were deliciously crispy) served in generous servings that will satisfy all your cravings. There’s nothing better than taking care of those post-dinner hunger pains at Ed’s.

TGI Friday’s Brighton Marina

0

TGI Friday’s Brighton Marina

Known for its casual dining, TGI Friday’s has been in business for decades. Although the restaurant has a modern look, it appeals to most people. No matter if you’re celebrating an occasion or not, everyone is welcome. Kids are also well-cared for! You can find a wide selection of spacious and comfortable seating options. Despite being large, the restaurant is neither too crowded nor too empty because it is well laid out!

Dining at TGI Friday’s

It is impossible to go wrong with TGI Fridays’ delicious menu! Even vegetarians will find something to enjoy on the menu, as it is extensive and varied.

When you’re looking for a special treat, TGI Fridays makes its burgers to die for. Glazed burgers are one of their best sellers. They are topped with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, and their special sauce.

Would you like to try something new? There are also Louisiana hot mess buttermilk chicken burgers with spicy mayo and hot sauce on the menu. The combination of house fries and blue cheese slaw is a surefire way to make you sweat!

Large portions make it unlikely that you will go hungry. Here you will find great food at an affordable price.

It is highly recommended to try the delicious pork ribs, as well as the chicken sandwiches. I rewarded myself with a rich and delicious chocolate fudge cake afterwards.

Our meal arrived hot and was served promptly, which I found very impressive.

At the bar

Beautiful design, music, and ambience! I was amazed at the amount of attention that was paid to every little thing! Just like Planet Hollywood, but more amazing!

One of the first things you see when entering is the bar area, which I find fascinating. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful! Those bottles are sparkling with all kinds of tasty elixirs!

This is the ultimate hangout spot whether you’re prepping for or following dinner. There are several appetizers and entrees to choose from here, as well as a variety of cocktails to enjoy. Whatever your taste, you will find it here, from creative cocktails to a cool beer or glass of wine! There is a price premium, but the large glass compensates.

Besides their hospitality and knowledge, the staff at this restaurant is also outstanding!

A team of chefs prepares the food within an open kitchen, effortlessly creating it, and managing to deliver it on time. Whenever I visit, I am amazed at how efficient they are, because their restaurant is always packed and alive!
