Bistro du Vin Brighton

You know you’ve had a great stay at Hotel Du Vin when they don’t want to let you leave. With their new, fresh renovations and updated menu, the bistro has also been upgraded.

The attention to detail in this hotel is phenomenal; whether it’s your room or just grabbing an after-dinner drink with friends!

There are endless options for any occasion here including wines from all over the world as well as locally sourced food that will make anyone feel right at home. The Bistro is one of the most charming and elegant restaurants in Brighton. It’s situated just off the seafront, right next to The Lanes shopping district where you’ll find many other great places to eat.
With its warm atmosphere from traditional fixtures like dark wooden chairs with red velvet upholstery as well as modern touches such as a sleek bar top that matches your sophisticated style, it makes for an unforgettable dining experience.

Extensive Wine Menu

The Bistro offers two wine menus, one of which is led by a sommelier. For the Wednesday night we visited, our favourite was the choose-it-yourself option and it features wines from the old world and new worlds with plenty of French options as well.

Luxurious Food Feast

This is the best place for a date night because it’s romantic, cosy and has great food. The pre-starter of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was an excellent opening to our meal––we ate most of that before we even got our main course!

We started with the Mackerel Rillettes served with cucumber carpaccio and horseradish cream. The appetizer was accompanied by roasted pear, Sussex Blue cheese, and caramelized pecan nuts.
The plate is just beautiful to look at, but the flavours are also delicious. We were surprised by how flavorful it was!

The first thing we noticed was the beautiful aroma of grilled halloumi and haddock. As our eyes widened, Hepworth Pullman beer-battered fish appeared on one end with a side of roasted potatoes also waiting for us to dive in!
The perfect finish? Stuffed portobello mushrooms that were bursting at the seams.

Lovely Desserts

I’m so stuffed from that delicious dinner. We had a nice time chatting and indulging in appetizers, entrees, desserts- it was great fun!
Our dessert selections were the Ridgeview Cavendish sparkling wine with strawberry mille-feuille cake layers topped with cream sauce and fresh strawberries on top; then we have this tasty Mojitea loose leaf Bird and the Blend tea vanilla cheesecake.

Starfish & Coffee

Starfish & Coffee

I knew I had to visit the place Starfish & Coffee with some of my friends because it won Brighton’s Best Cafe, and you know how much we love local restaurants. We arrived Saturday morning around 10 am for brunch, but there was a lineup out the door!

I wanted to see what all of that fuss about this cafe is ever so when I and my buddies came in on our day off at their busiest time -we were seated immediately.

Walking into this cafe felt like entering a warm and welcoming place. It had that cosy atmosphere where it made me want to curl up in my seat, order a drink with friends and chat for hours.

We all decided quickly what kind of drinks we wanted: some asked for black coffee while others opted for cappuccinos or lattes (I love the taste of latte). The menu also included alcoholic beverages–we went ahead and picked out bloody marys as our beverage choice!

I have to admit that Starfish would be my top choice. The perfect mix of spices, enough to kick a hangover right outta you! I always get excited when the Bloody Mary comes with sticks of celery–it’s so refreshing and makes me feel like drinking another one!

Abundant Choices

The menu is massive. It’s hard to decide what you want because everything sounds delicious!

There are lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well, so there will be something for everyone in the family.

After we finally decided on the Avocado Royale, I was ready to order. It took a minute for me to decide between ordering an additional two poached eggs or going with something more adventurous like the Chorizo Hash but in the end, nothing could sway my decision because when people say “you can’t go wrong” they refer specifically and solely towards this dish!

The dishes came out smelling amazing — we were salivating before they even made it to our tables- much more than enough for two people actually -and when each one landed in front of us there was no hesitation about digging right in because these portions are huge but oh man everything tasted just as awesome as you’d imagine!

My dish was made up of beautifully fried potatoes that had a bit extra seasoning. One of my favourite foods is mushrooms so seeing them mixed with potatoes and topped off with two eggs just felt like home!

Starfish offers so many different combinations of drinks and food that it’s good for everyone! Whether you’re a family looking to get the kids fed, or are on your first date with someone. This is also great if you have pets as they welcome them too! The happy hour from 5-7 pm makes this even more attractive since there are such delicious drinks offered at those times.

I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m back for a second breakfast. The food was delicious and the service impeccable, not to mention that I can’t wait to see what happens at night!

I’ll definitely be coming back soon – this is one of my favourite cafes in town already!

The Copper Clam

The Copper Clam Brighton

Copper Clam Brighton is the perfect place to enjoy some of the freshest fish on its picturesque beachfront location, with a homely atmosphere that will make you feel right at home after your busy day.

With its stunning views of the beach and a menu full of fresh, high-quality dishes, Copper Clam Brighton is an excellent spot to stop for lunch or dinner after you’ve worked up your appetite.

With all these windows and incredible architecture, you feel like you’re at home in this upscale place with your friends or family members by the seaside.
The copper-fronted bar adds some flair to an already luxurious seating area that is perfect for lunch meetings after work (or r!).

The Menu

The shellfish menu is one of the best in town. You can’t beat a good lobster tail dinner with some crab legs and oysters on the side, but it’s even better if you have other seafood to choose from too!
They have mussels, scallops and king prawns thrown into this fabulous lineup so I’m sure there’ll be something for everyone at your table tonight.

The restaurant is committed to sourcing locally and sustainably, with their meat coming from Sussex farms.
You know you’re in for a good meal when the house wine comes as part of the set menu – your waiter will be happy to chat about it!

Other than seafood, this eclectic establishment has vegetarian dishes available as well; all are sourced locally or grown on-site at one of three sustainable farming projects they support.
If you order any kind of steak (aged fillet or ribeye), don’t forget that they offer wines made especially by local producers which come included in their menu!

Amazing Bar

When you’re looking for a place to have some drinks and coffee, Copper Clam is the perfect spot. They offer delicious gin, tonic or champagne among their many options on tap.
You can find good espresso here too if that’s not enough caffeine in one day!

This is a perfect place for a date night with your significant other. With award-winning brands of gin and wine, you’ll find everything to enjoy together.

The Copper Clam is a perfect family-friendly restaurant for anyone looking to experience quintessential British cuisine at its finest.

I’ve been looking for a place like this forever! The staff is so friendly and their service was impeccable. I had such an amazing meal at the best price, too.
You have to visit as soon as possible if you haven’t already- it’s one of those places everyone needs in their lives with all its charm!

etch. Hove

etch. Hove

Do you want a restaurant with the best food and service? You got it! Etch is one of those restaurants that leave you feeling like royalty.
Head over to this four-time award winner for your next meal, because I guarantee there’s no better place in town.

Words like excellence, exquisite food and an unforgettable experience come to mind when Etch is mentioned.

Steven Edwards, former MasterChef: The Professionals champion and now restaurateur, opened this fine-dining restaurant in March of 2017.

I bet you’ve never had such a unique experience as trying new dishes every week.
Located at the end of Church Road, etch offers seasonal menus that change based on what produce is in season around Sussex and other local areas!

Cosy Ambiance

When you’re craving a delightful meal with family, friends or work associates and want to eat in style then Etch has the perfect place for your next social event.
Its stylish yet comfortable atmosphere is combined with its fantastic service so that no matter what type of occasion it may be, whether a corporate meeting or private dinner party for two, this restaurant will not disappoint.
With seating available from small groups of 8 up to large parties accommodating 38 diners simultaneously they have something suitable for everyone’s needs!

I can’t imagine anyone disliking this place. The interior is a lovely bright space with stylish fixtures and fittings – it’s fancy without being intimidating and has booths, tables, or bars for seating options depending on what you’re looking for.
It’s the perfect blend of high-end and smart casual that I know people will love!

Our 6-course meal

Diners can book in for the perfect meal. They’re given a choice of between 4, 6 and 8-course tasting menus which are priced at £40, £50 or £60 respectively – though you’ll have to read over that menu carefully if you want some clue as to what’s coming next!
But don’t be put off by this lack of description; just go with it because there may well be new hidden gems waiting behind those tantalizing lines…

Etch takes the time to explore and get a better understanding of each ingredient by using only two main ingredients in dishes.
Etch does not use spice at all, instead, they employ different cooking techniques that manipulate their flavours for an extraordinary experience without any spices or seasonings used whatsoever.

The food was to die for. I got a six-course tasting menu and it started with champagne, mushroom doughnuts stuffed with mushrooms that were infused with truffle oil on top of mini biscuits soaked in cream cheese.

Next up is a unique spin on the classic brioche bun! These buns are smothered in marmite glaze and served alongside butter, and dehydrated seaweed flakes.

I was excited to try this wild garlic soup with a layer of minty Jersey Royal potatoes.
I didn’t expect it to be so light and creamy, but the little potato crisps added some crunchiness for texture! The chives on top made it extra delicious.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better fish dish in this town. The salmon was salty and sweet, with just enough pickled onions on the side for that extra kick of flavour!

Next, a beetroot tartar cannelloni with orange sorbet and ginger croutons. The flavour of the dish is balanced by both acidity (sorbet) as well as sweetness from candied roots.

I was so excited for the next course because it was my first time trying fowl. I love how they made a dish out of guinea hen breast and wrapped it in ham, then drizzled it with mouth-watering juices!

It was time to cleanse our palates so the baker whipped out a light pistachio cake with rhubarb sorbet.

The decadent chocolate marquise cake was the perfect way to end my meal. I felt like a queen in her castle with this sweet treat!

When you go out to a fancy restaurant, there’s always that feeling of awkwardness.
It feels stuffy and impossible for anyone to enjoy themselves or talk without whispering their words so they can be heard.
The last time I was at this calibre of a place my date had me speaking in hushed tones the whole way through dinner because it felt like we were being overheard from every angle.

Not only did our experience not reflect these feelings but it went even more enjoyable than before!
There was an awesome wine list with all sorts of choices and some lethal etch-espresso martini’s. And when the food came around… wowzers! They impressed us both – everything tasted delicious!

The food was amazing. The service, the ambience…all of it made for such a wonderful experience that my friends and I will always remember!

Estia

0

Estia Brighton

Brighton’s Estia is just moments away from the i360 and the beach, that’s perfect for a romantic dinner after an exciting day exploring Brighton! It is a family-run, home-cooked Greek and Cypriot restaurant that has been operating for more than ten years.

It is also possible for Estia to cater for any outside event, such as birthdays, wedding receptions, family reunions, picnics, and parties!

The perfect restaurant experience takes you back to the Mediterranean coast sometime, where you can hear the gentle waves crashing in a small fishing village, snuggled in close to the laughter of families, surrounded by the smell of fresh fish and wine.
As weird as it sounds, I like to feel “at home” when eating ‘out’, just as much as I enjoy cooking, something is comforting about knowing you are dining on home-cooked food that has been made with love, even when eating in an unfamiliar setting.

One of a Kind

A homey dining environment is very hard to find in Brighton. However, Estia, coincidentally named after the Greek Goddess of domesticity, is a charming local Cypriot tavern that makes even a foreigner feel welcome.

We are very comfortable dining here because it’s just like eating at a friend’s house with Grandma cooking in the kitchen. It’s easier to relax in this space than in any other place within the city, thanks to its minimal décor to the cosy dining space and family-owned atmosphere. It’s easy to both eat and do nothing within these walls.

12 Years in the Business

Andreana and her husband Andy have been running Estia for 12 years, and the food is still as good as when they first started. Some might even argue that the food is better today than it was a decade ago. They may have taken on such a strong sense of hospitality as their genes have always been for food and hospitality. Since their early ages, both of them have helped their parents run their family-run food business and, at the same time, you will find their third generation of family helping serve food and chat with customers.
A dream Anatolian mélange cuisine influenced by both the Middle East and the Mediterranean has many merits that filter through to great fusion cuisine.

Traditional Cypriot dishes

Estia has a wide range of dishes that are typical Cypriot, such as vegetarian moussaka, dolmades, stifado (rich beef stew), and kleftiko (braised lamb shoulder). Served with every main dish, our extensive and completely prepared potato chips are used in conjunction with an authentic Estia Village Salad to complement the flavorful fish and meat dishes.

Locally-Sourced, Fresh Ingredients

As I knew there was a rice side available from another Estia favourite and I was so impressed I thought I’d spy on the recipe from the Chef, sneaking out the ingredients hidden in the recipe. A memorable meal for me leaves me curious and puzzled about all the ingredients and unconventional additions.
There’s stuff in there, cardamom pods, cinnamon, and probably tomato essence.

Fast and Friendly Service

There was excellent food available and the service was superb. Kefdedakia (homemade meatball) and crispy calamari were our favourites. It is worth noting that both dishes were very generous and the fact that they were served together may have led us to re-think our main menu choices, as we were not going to forgo dessert.
In addition to the straightforward menu of home-style main courses and Cypriot classics, there were fish dishes on offer, including seabream and swordfish.

The Best Homemade Desserts

Having more than enough food and having let some belt buttons dangle from our waist a little, we made our way to dessert. Upon entering the tavern, my dining companion made it quite clear that he was committed to the dessert he had been eyeing for some time. Hence, we ordered the traditional galataporeko dessert served with fresh cream and lemon sorbet, which served as both a palate cleanser and an option suitable for my waistline.
For another extremely sweet treat, try baklava which is sticky and gooey, as well as Greek creamy yoghurt with honey, perfect for your sweet tooth.

NuPosto

NuPosto Brighton

It’s fascinating to see how different pizzas taste from place to place you might not have expected.
The Brighton pizza scene has been a joy for me and my friend over the last year or so, which is why it wasn’t too surprising when we found ourselves at NuPosto – with more than enough choice available now, our expectations were high!

I’ve always loved pizza. I love how you can tell if it’s really good just by looking at the crust, and whether or not they got that thing with cheese in there right.
But sometimes it’s hard to find a place where people know what they’re doing when it comes to making this kind of food, so Nuposto on West Street is my favourite for date nights because no matter what time we go, this restaurant has everything going for them – especially their incredible thin-crust pizzas!

Nuposto Brighton offers patrons all they could ask for when looking for authenticity as well as traditional Napoli dining experiences.

To top off these delicious dishes, everything is made fresh twice per day by chefs trained in southern Italian cuisine – just one sign this restaurant focuses on quality over quantity.
The whole staff works together at providing each customer a memorable meal time after time because here everyone does eat family style!

Cool Interior

When we walked in, it was impossible to miss the space. With high ceilings and plenty of tables scattered around you could see all over the restaurant with ease.
The decor is also something that stands out here too- blues and whites as far as your eye can see!
The place is also quite charming inside, with ads for authentic Italian football shirts dangling from chandeliers above us, or chalkboards, which contain phrases such as “Buon Appetito,” so hungry customers can read them while they eat their meals.

NuPosto Brighton Menu

The menu is straightforward and simple, with hand-printed menus on a half sheet of paper. Everything from pizza to salads is available for a hungry customer.
They’re using awesome ingredients in their recipes, including dough that’s made by an authentic recipe right at this joint!

The garlic bread was so soft and chewy with a crispy base. It made for the perfect appetizer while we waited on our other dishes to arrive.
Our waiter gave us some complimentary chips, which were also delicious!
The Napoli pizza came next with its spicy salami slices topped off by green olives and capers in a tomato sauce that even my mom would approve of.
My favourite dish is the Vesuvio- it’s got fresh chillies covered in mozzarella cheese melted over top -wow this stuff really packs an attitude!

Italian Dessert Time

We wanted to go out in true Italian style and so we decided to try out their Tiramisu to finish the evening.

It’s a classic dessert that people around here are huge fans of and it was something I couldn’t turn down!

Salame Cioccolato is a must try- it’s something you don’t want to miss! The chocolate and broken biscuit combination with vanilla gelato were absolutely amazing.
A great dish that can be enjoyed by anyone whether they are vegan, gluten-free or not because of its simple yet delicious ingredients.

Both of us left Nuposto feeling totally contented with how satisfying everything is – from the service to the atmosphere.
When you come here, you get lost in this cool place where anything goes because while dining on such good cuisine (I mean seriously), who wants to go anywhere else? And besides, we were so full by then anyways….

Lucky Khao

Lucky Khao Brighton

Lucky Khao Brighton is one of the most popular restaurants in all of Brighton. Not only does it serve fantastic Northern Thai food, but Lucky Khao also has a coffee shop on its roof!

Lucky’s small space features an ambience that makes you feel like you’ve travelled to Thailand for dinner.
They are famous for their fresh and flavorful charcoal barbeque, as well as zesty curries, with complex flavours from different regions across Thailand, served family-style so everyone can share and enjoy this incredible culinary experience together!

It’s like my restaurant found me. The minute I stepped into this place, I knew it was the perfect spot to enjoy a night of food and drinks with friends in Bangkok!
It has all that you would want for an evening out – comfy booth seats, delicious-looking Thai dishes on silver plates served by friendly staff who seem genuinely happy to see us here.
We’ve barely been seated five minutes when we’re joined by our waitress ready to take drink orders from everyone at the table!

Northern Thai Cuisine

I was so excited when I walked into this restaurant and saw the menu! It’s designed beautifully, with tons of options to choose from.

If you’re in the mood for a dinner that’s messy, sweet and sticky then be sure to order from Mike’s Party Wings.
Their chicken wings are so succulent – it’d just about impossible not to dive right into them!
The caramelised fish sauce coating is absolutely out of this world too; we’ve never had anything like these before!

The Som Tam salad is a refreshing, crunchy dish with plenty of both heat and flavour. It comes with the warning that this will be one spicy bite but it’s worth it!
The greens are fresh and crisp while the spice lingers on your lips for quite some time after you finish eating.
A must-order if you’re in search of something new to try out at dinner tonight or lunch tomorrow.

I would highly recommend trying the mussels! They’re delicious, plump and so flavorful. The coconut broth has a warming scent that is just perfect for this chilly day.

The charcoal-roasted chicken marinated with spices and served over a bed of rice is another favourite.
Aside from this, we also enjoy their vegan dish that incorporates White Corn ribs for an extra burst of flavour!

This restaurant is the perfect spot for a family outing, social gathering, or even date night.

The menu caters to all dietary needs and over 40% of it can be made meat-free!

Drink Selection

The cocktails and beers at Lucky Khao Brighton are so creative, you’ll feel like playing a game of “Name That Tune” with each sip.
The wine selection is based on the idea that organic wines should be naturally delicious without being overly manipulated by humans.

Lucky Khao is a restaurant that I am thankful to have visited because its food was amazing. They try hard with everything they do, and it shows in the quality of their service!

This is the model for all restaurants of tomorrow. They cook with a bold taste and admirable approach, using only local ingredients to reduce waste as much as possible.

Imagine your perfect lunch: you’re hungry, but not too hungry to think about what’s for dinner later. You need something that will satisfy both the taste buds and hunger pangs at the same time – a sandwich or salad with enough meat in it (or cheese) so that you won’t be tempted by a doughnut.

The Social Board Brighton is just one of those places where they have sandwiches and salads like no other place around town does; plus their ingredients are as fresh as can be!

I was feeling hungry and tired on a hot Friday afternoon, so I headed over to my favourite restaurant Social Board for some food.

The Venue

When it comes to the city’s “cafe culture,” most people only think of St James’ Street, Kemp Town. And if you’re looking for a sexy sandwich at lunchtime? Social Board Brighton is where it’s at!

The cafe’s industrial-style decor gives it a laid back feel, while the wooden features lend to its cosy and rustic atmosphere. The interior has lots of natural light and is spacious.

The layout includes a few tables with chairs, chic industrial lamps on the ceiling that lends an inviting vibe to the place!

I took a seat at one of the communal tables, behind which is an open-plan kitchen from where I can watch Tomasz and Atilla – the owners -prepare my meal. The transparency in this layout makes me feel like part of their process as they cook before my eyes; it’s a great way to enjoy food without feeling rushed or pressured. Plus, you get some inspiration for your cooking!

The Food

The Porchetta sandwich is my absolute favourite. It’s juicy, the pork practically falls out into your mouth as you bite and it has an amazing homemade salsa verde that just makes everything taste delicious. The sourdough bap was baked fresh every day by this awesome bakery called “The Flour Pot Bakery.” I could eat a million of these sandwiches!

Another favourite is the Beef Philly, which will leave you drooling over its generous serving of locally sourced beef rump. The sandwich features a beautiful honey mustard mayo that’s sure to stimulate your taste buds, along with red onion marmalade and gherkins for an additional kick!

When it comes to lunch, you have a lot of options available. You can go with the safe option: A large salad or sandwich alone will leave you satisfied and more than enough space for your afternoon snack.

You’ll love Social Board Brighton. You can either enjoy a quick lunch break or take food back to the office with you!
