Purezza

Looking for a clean, plant-based place to have pizza? Head on over to Purezza in Brighton. Their pizzas are made from only fresh vegetables and natural ingredients that will satisfy your taste buds with their unique flavour combinations. This is your chance to enjoy all of those amazing toppings without any guilty feelings!

Plant-based pizzeria Purezza has been winning awards left and right in the last few years. In 2015, they opened their first restaurant on St James’ Street with only vegan options for pizza toppings like nut cheese, greens pesto, baby spinach leaves or tomato purée sauce. But don’t think that just because it’s plant-based makes it any less delicious! The dough is made from organic Spelt flour which creates a chewy texture as well as having loads of fibre to keep you full all day long. By 2020 they had expanded three times – once opening up Camden followed by Hove too!

Plant-based Pizza Menu

Purezza is run by Italian owners, so when it comes to selecting the best ingredients to make delicious treats like vegan cheese, they won’t settle for anything less. Moreover, they have raw nut cheese as well as coconut cheese, giving you the chance to experiment with different flavours at a reasonable price.

Who doesn’t love a good base? The one here at Purezza is just that – perfect. I went for their traditional wholegrain sourdough flour and it was light, fluffy, and super satisfying. You could also get your pizza with Sussex-grown hemp or gluten-free bases if you’re feeling adventurous but in my opinion, there’s nothing better than tradition! And when this hot crust meets cool tomato sauce…mmm…

While there are a few instantly recognizable pizzas, namely the Margherita and Marinara, a pleasant variety of other options are available as well. Choose from a good assortment of white sauce bases, as well as red ones, but half of them can be adapted to be made with a slice of alternative meat if you want to!

It is worth mentioning that I finally choose the Green Supreme as my final choice. It is just a reinvention of a classic friarielli – a broccoli/spinach hybrid – which is paired with spicy sausage, but without the sausage itself. Since it was vegan, the sausage was something of alternative meat to me. The quality of the mozzarella made it a dish to enjoy along with the bagfuls of spice from chillies.

Guilty Pleasure

Pizza is all about balance, and that includes desserts. Why not have a slice of vegan chocolate pizza or cashew nut cheesecake?

Pizza might be your favourite food in the world (we won’t judge) but don’t forget to savour some sinful dessert! Purezza also offers vegan lemon cheesecake, tiramisu, and gelato.

To drink, there is an amazing selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The joys of being in a vegan restaurant are that you don’t even need to ask if the food or drinks have animal products! There is also great fresh cold-pressed juices and soft drinks available for those who prefer them.
