etch. Hove
Do you want a restaurant with the best food and service? You got it! Etch is one of those restaurants that leave you feeling like royalty.
Head over to this four-time award winner for your next meal, because I guarantee there’s no better place in town.
Words like excellence, exquisite food and an unforgettable experience come to mind when Etch is mentioned.
Steven Edwards, former MasterChef: The Professionals champion and now restaurateur, opened this fine-dining restaurant in March of 2017.
I bet you’ve never had such a unique experience as trying new dishes every week.
Located at the end of Church Road, etch offers seasonal menus that change based on what produce is in season around Sussex and other local areas!
Cosy Ambiance
When you’re craving a delightful meal with family, friends or work associates and want to eat in style then Etch has the perfect place for your next social event.
Its stylish yet comfortable atmosphere is combined with its fantastic service so that no matter what type of occasion it may be, whether a corporate meeting or private dinner party for two, this restaurant will not disappoint.
With seating available from small groups of 8 up to large parties accommodating 38 diners simultaneously they have something suitable for everyone’s needs!
I can’t imagine anyone disliking this place. The interior is a lovely bright space with stylish fixtures and fittings – it’s fancy without being intimidating and has booths, tables, or bars for seating options depending on what you’re looking for.
It’s the perfect blend of high-end and smart casual that I know people will love!
Our 6-course meal
Diners can book in for the perfect meal. They’re given a choice of between 4, 6 and 8-course tasting menus which are priced at £40, £50 or £60 respectively – though you’ll have to read over that menu carefully if you want some clue as to what’s coming next!
But don’t be put off by this lack of description; just go with it because there may well be new hidden gems waiting behind those tantalizing lines…
Etch takes the time to explore and get a better understanding of each ingredient by using only two main ingredients in dishes.
Etch does not use spice at all, instead, they employ different cooking techniques that manipulate their flavours for an extraordinary experience without any spices or seasonings used whatsoever.
The food was to die for. I got a six-course tasting menu and it started with champagne, mushroom doughnuts stuffed with mushrooms that were infused with truffle oil on top of mini biscuits soaked in cream cheese.
Next up is a unique spin on the classic brioche bun! These buns are smothered in marmite glaze and served alongside butter, and dehydrated seaweed flakes.
I was excited to try this wild garlic soup with a layer of minty Jersey Royal potatoes.
I didn’t expect it to be so light and creamy, but the little potato crisps added some crunchiness for texture! The chives on top made it extra delicious.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better fish dish in this town. The salmon was salty and sweet, with just enough pickled onions on the side for that extra kick of flavour!
Next, a beetroot tartar cannelloni with orange sorbet and ginger croutons. The flavour of the dish is balanced by both acidity (sorbet) as well as sweetness from candied roots.
I was so excited for the next course because it was my first time trying fowl. I love how they made a dish out of guinea hen breast and wrapped it in ham, then drizzled it with mouth-watering juices!
It was time to cleanse our palates so the baker whipped out a light pistachio cake with rhubarb sorbet.
The decadent chocolate marquise cake was the perfect way to end my meal. I felt like a queen in her castle with this sweet treat!
When you go out to a fancy restaurant, there’s always that feeling of awkwardness.
It feels stuffy and impossible for anyone to enjoy themselves or talk without whispering their words so they can be heard.
The last time I was at this calibre of a place my date had me speaking in hushed tones the whole way through dinner because it felt like we were being overheard from every angle.
Not only did our experience not reflect these feelings but it went even more enjoyable than before!
There was an awesome wine list with all sorts of choices and some lethal etch-espresso martini’s. And when the food came around… wowzers! They impressed us both – everything tasted delicious!
The food was amazing. The service, the ambience…all of it made for such a wonderful experience that my friends and I will always remember!
