Customers can choose to eat in the luxurious upstairs restaurant, relax outside on the decked terraces, or enjoy a more intimate atmosphere of the downstairs restaurant. Built for the Festival of Britain in the 1950’s, the historic Milkmaid Pavilion has undergone a number of dramatic changes since being taken over by our family in 1996. This culminated in the triumph of constructing a glass restaurant on the roof of the existing building which meant that our aim of bringing the beach up on to the promenade was finally achieved.
Occupied by squatters in the mid-1990’s the building had to be completely renovated from scratch and was completed with the erection of the glass restaurant in the Millennium year.
Since then Alfresco has gone from strength to strength and now not only offers a superb dining experience in the upstairs restaurant but also a full events team to assist with family functions and corporate events held in the downstairs restaurant.
All our customers can enjoy both restaurants ‘a stone’s throw’ from Brighton beach.
We are an Italian family business and the cuisine served in the restaurant is modern Italian. Our aim is to provide the best ingredients, locally where possible but ALWAYS fresh. We source a lot of our ingredients directly from Italy, using local farmers in the region of Italy we are from so we can offer speciality cured meats and cheeses imported directly to us.
Our Executive chef has a vast amount of experience working in world class restaurants alongside some very well known chefs. He worked for five years as Sous Chef at Clivedon and then became head chef for 5 years at Burnham Beeches where he was part of a team that won AA rosettes.
One of our chefs has worked in Bluebird in Chelsea alongside the TV chef John Torode, better known for presenting the Masterchef series.
